This Thunderbird Sterling Silver Bracelet is hand-made by Native Artist Gus Cook from the Kwakwaka´wakw Nation. For the artist, the Thunderbird is a soaring design that represents the protector-guardian, who watches over the ones below. The beautiful bracelet is made using both the repousse as well as the chasing technique, which manipulates the silver to create a 3D effect.
The Thunderbird Symbol represents power, protection, and strength. He is often seen as the most powerful of all spirits and can also transform into human form by opening his head up like a mask and taking his feathers off as if they were a mere blanket. Under his wings are lightning snakes, which he can use as a tool or weapon.
